What they do
The Municipality of Kalamata governs a medium-sized Greek city with a strong track record in urban innovation, waterfront development, and public space transformation. Through the Kalamata 2030 strategic programme, the Municipality is pursuing climate neutrality targets, energy transition initiatives, and digital urban services — partnering with technology companies, universities, and innovation ecosystems to accelerate this transformation.
Through its Kalamata.Lab and GENeCITY project involvement with Pleiades, the Municipality is co-developing urban digital twin infrastructure, participatory planning tools, and smart energy solutions tailored to Kalamata's specific urban context. The city serves as a real-world testbed and learning environment for smart city approaches that can be replicated across mid-sized Greek cities.
